My Story
I have spent nearly my entire professional life in the field of education. My teaching journey began in 1979 at a secondary school in East London, followed by a position teaching music at a junior school in Hackney. I relished teaching the children to sing and preparing them for end-of-term concerts. Starting my music teaching career in Hackney brought challenges, but it also provided the benefit of being in a lively and diverse cultural setting. This experience underscored the importance of adapting my approach to suit the needs and interests of the children. I firmly believe that any educational activity must be relevant and meaningful. I ensure that I uphold this principle in my own teaching practice.

Although I trained as a music teacher at the Roehampton Institute, I have worked in other teaching capacities with both young children and adults, including roles as an ESL teacher and a teacher for children with special needs.
Later in my career, I returned to music teaching, focusing on piano instruction. Since 2006, I have been teaching piano. As I approached retirement, I decided to establish an agency to offer other teachers the opportunity to take on this challenge. This led to my current role as owner and administrator of Edgware Piano Tutors.
Looking forward, I am enthusiastic about inspiring each eager student to learn to play through the guidance of our qualified and skilled musicians. These teachers are now taking up the challenge of guiding each student through their musical journey.
